About Me

Hi,

My name is Geraldine Clark and I have been  employed as an associate lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland (Sociology, Research and Inquiry 1, 2, 3), also by New College Lanarkshire as a bank lecturer teaching Psychology.

I  attained a First Class Honours degree in Psychology and Sociology (2011) and I have been awarded a Master of Research degree at UWS (2014).

I am interested in all aspects of education, inequalities and socio-cultural influences especially upon non-traditional students and their educational experience. Results obtained from my undergraduate dissertation Butterflies or Chameleons? Examining students’ experience of the University of the West of Scotland through a Bourdieusian lens  led on to my Masters study " Yearning to Earn or Yearning to Learn? Mobilising the Bourdieusian Concepts of Habitus and Capital in the Analysis of Students’ Expectations, Experiences and Aspirations in Higher Education."

Following on from this, I will be examining the possibilities of elearning as a platform to aid in widening participation and break down class based barriers in "Navigating the System: Can e-learning technologies help students overcome traditional class-based barriers within higher education?" my PhD research project.

n.b.Due to illness I have withdrawn from my PhD study
